M.S.W. (Master of Social Work)

About the Programme :

The M.S.W. (Master of Social Work) programme with specialization in Tribal Welfare & Justice, running under the aegis of Department of Contemporary and Tribal Customary Law, is a full time programme of study spanning across four (4) academic semesters, each of six (6) months duration.

The programme cannot be pursued simultaneously with any other full‐time study or employment.

Admission Notification :

Notification for admission to M.S.W. (Master of Social Work) programme is usually flashed in the month of March every year.

Eligibility Criteria :

A candidate seeking admission to M.S.W. (Master of Social Work) programme must possess Bachelor Degree or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized Indian or foreign University, with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade/CGPA.

The same for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (non-creamy layer), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Divyang (differently abled) candidates is 45% or equivalent grade/CGPA.

There is no age bar for pursuing the programme.

Candidates appearing in the final year examination of bachelor degree or those waiting for result are also eligible to apply. However, if such a candidate secures seat, his/her admission shall be provisional and will be confirmed only when all prerequisites for admission are fulfilled on the day of admission or within the stipulated time frame as decided by the University.

Number of Seats :

The total number of seats in M.S.W. (Master of Social Work) programme is currently TWENTY ONE (21).

The concurrent reservation rules as mandated by the Government of India/University Grants Commission (UGC), shall be applied accordingly.

Tentative Seat Matrix :

    • Unreserved (open for all) - 10 seats

    • Other Backward Classes (OBC) Non Creamy Layer - 05 seats

    • Scheduled Caste (SC) - 03 seats

    • Scheduled Tribe (ST) - 01 seat

    • Economically Weaker Section - 02 seats

    • Divyang / Differently Abled - 01 seat (horizontal reservation)

Admission Entrance Test :

Admission to the programme is made purely on the basis of candidate’s performance in Common University Entrance Test (CUET).

Entrance Test Centres :

CUET is conducted across the length and breadth of India.

Fee Structure :

    • (1st Semester - Rs 7,500), (2nd Semester - Rs. 4,400) , (3rd Semester - Rs. 4,400) and (4th Semester - Rs. 5,400)
